Chance meeting

While between flights at the Atlanta airport I was walking Roman in a stroller and I saw a face I recognized walking right next to me. It was Randy Shannon, head coach of the University of Miami football team. I said to him "Coach Shannon!". He stopped and we chatted for a minute. We actually were on the same plane to MIA. If you don't know his story, it will inspire you more than you can imagine, read it here.

Big day in sports

Yesterday was a big day in South Florida sports. Shaq was traded from Miami to Phoenix and the University of Miami nabbed the number recruiting class in the country. I'm bitter-sweet about the Shaq trade. I know it was best for the team, but I hate to see Mr. Personality go some where else. The big recruiting day for the U was not a surprise as 8 Northwestern Bulls (the #1 high school team in America)signed with the U. Look for good things to come out of Coral Gables very soon! How did your college team do yesterday in recruiting?

National Signing Day

Today is an important day for the University of Miami. As of 10 AM the U is positioning themselves to have a top 5 recruiting class! Not too shabby! On another note, for those into college football here is a sad, pathetic yet hilarious recruiting prank pulled on a high school football star. I can imagine this kid is hiding from his coaches and teamates. Read here, here, and here

Went bowling....

I left Jupiter at 5:15 AM and arrived in Jacksonville with the fellas around 9:30 AM to begin a day of college football. Texas Tech ended up pulling a shocker out in the last minute to beat Virginia 31-28. Here I am sporting a borrowed Texas Tech jersey. Notice my undershirt....

Gator Bowl

Since my college team is not bowling this year I have been invited by my boy Billy to go support his school, Texas Tech, in the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville. Should be a good time and yes, I will be sporting Red Raiders gear, just for tomorrow! Hopefully next year my Hurricanes will actually go to a bowl game.

Cheaters?

If you were caught cheating on a test, you would get an F. I know from experience.

Barry Bonds will have an *asterisk next to his name as the all time home run king, because he probably cheated.

You cheat the IRS you get in trouble.

Downloading illegal music, movies or whatever is consider cheating (not buying the "real" product) and there can be severe consequences for doing so.

I could go on and on about cheaters and consequences.

Did you know that the much heralded New England Patriots were caught red-handed cheating. They were fined, the head coach was fined AND their first round draft pick for 2008 was revoked. They cheated. They were caught. Yet the Patriots are celebrated as undefeated, champs of the regular season. They at least deserve an *asterisk.

I think the Patriots should have the same consequences anyone else would have for cheating. Do you?
